The Blip Party blog
Notes on what we're building — new games, what changed, and the occasional look at how the thing works under the hood.
A light theme, 39 badges, and no more re-joining between games
Three things people kept asking for, shipped together: a light theme, badges for the things you actually do, and a way to change games without a new room code.
You said the timers were too fast. You were right.
Players told us the timers were too fast, even on Chill. They were right, and it took us a while to see why.
Nobody to play with? Add a Blip.
Most of our games need two or three people, and most rooms had one. So we built Beep, Boop and Bloop: bots with no brains, a lot of confidence, and a seat in the lobby.
Put Blip Party on the TV: the host can now sit out
One checkbox in the lobby turns the host's screen into the TV. Here's what the room sees on it, and the things it deliberately refuses to show.
Rooms now fit eight players
The room cap went from four to eight. The number came from an unexpected place: how many colours we had to tell players apart.
Blip Party now has nine daily puzzles
Nine small puzzles, new every midnight UTC, playable alone in about a minute each. Here's what they are and why every one keeps its own streak.
Blip Party is coming to Discord
Nine games, playable inside a voice channel, with no room code to read out. Here's what we're building and where it's up to.
Blip Party is on Product Hunt
Sixty party games, one room code, nothing to install — and now a Product Hunt page to go with them.
