Blip Party is coming to Discord

An Imposter vote showing four players and their one-word clues — beach, salt, holiday, waves.

We're building a Discord version of Blip Party. Not a bot that posts a link — the games themselves, running inside the voice channel you're already sitting in.

It is not open yet. This post is what it will be, and where it has got to, because the part that makes it worth building is easy to explain and worth saying out loud early.

What actually changes

On the website, one person hosts and reads a four-letter code out loud, and everyone types it in. That works — but in a voice call it is a step that exists purely because the browser has no idea who else is in the room.

Discord already knows. So in the Activity there is no code, no join screen and no name entry: you start it in a voice channel and everyone in that channel is already in the game, under the name and identity they already have. The setup disappears entirely.

  • No room code to read out, mistype, or repeat for the person who joined late.
  • No install and no account — it runs in Discord's own window, on desktop and on phones.
  • Everyone is already on voice, which several of these games were designed around rather than merely tolerate.

The nine games it opens with

Not all 60. The ones going first are the ones that get better when everybody can talk — where the arguing is the game rather than a distraction from it:

  • Imposter — everyone gets the same secret word except one person. The vote screen already says 'talk it out'; on voice, it means it.
  • Fibber — write a convincing lie, then defend it out loud while the room picks it apart.
  • Dead Giveaway — everyone answers in secret, then the room argues about who wrote what. The accusation is the gameplay.
  • Tall Tales — two truths and a lie, with the room interrogating you directly.
  • Agents — one clue, many words: the shape a lot of Discord groups already know.
  • Mind Meld — guess what your friend will pick. Agreeing pays, so talking is the point.
  • Hot Take — two tiles, one clock, and an argument afterwards.
  • Most Likely — a tap-only roast where the reveal is the payoff.
  • Quiz Hero — the flagship trivia game, on the honour system with an open mic.
A Hot Take round: the statement 'A hot dog is a sandwich.' above two large tiles reading 'Obviously yes' and 'Absolutely not'.
Hot Take is the two-tap one. On a voice call the vote takes five seconds and the argument takes five minutes.

Two things to be upfront about

Rooms cap at four players to start with. That is small for a voice channel and we know it — it is the current limit on the website too, and raising it means re-testing every game at a size none of them have been played at yet. It is the first thing on the list after launch, not an oversight.

And it opens with nine games rather than the full catalogue. Some of the other 51 are genuinely worse with an open mic — anything where reading a screen quietly is the challenge — and the rest simply have not been through the smaller panel Discord gives them yet.

When you can play it

Not yet. It runs, and it has been played end to end, but the app still has to go through Discord's review before anyone outside our own testing can add it — and we would rather not point you at an unverified permissions screen in the meantime.

When it opens, it will be announced here. Until then everything is playable in a browser exactly as before, including all nine of the games above and the other fifty-one — browse the guides or just start a room.
