Cast asks a numeric question and then does something no other estimation game does: instead of a guess, you set a range. A low end, a high end, and a hope that the answer falls between them.
That single change turns estimation into a nerve game. A wide net almost always catches something and pays almost nothing. A tight net pays enormously — right up until it doesn't.

How to play Cast
The host picks the round count
Eight rounds is the default at about 35 seconds each, which is longer than most games here because setting a range takes more thought than typing a number.
A numeric question drops
One question with one answer somewhere on a number line.
Cast your net
Drag or type a low end and a high end. You're not being asked what the answer is, you're being asked how confident you are.
The answer lands
The reveal drops the true number onto the line and shows every player's net, so you can see whose was tight and whose was cowardly.
Score by precision
A catch pays inversely to the width of your net; a miss pays nothing regardless of how close you were.

How scoring works
Catching the answer inside your net banks points, scaled by how tight the net was. A narrow catch is worth many times a wide one.
Missing pays nothing at all, no matter how narrowly you missed. There's no partial credit — the net either caught it or it didn't.
That combination is the whole game: a very wide net guarantees a tiny score, and a very tight one is a gamble. Points accumulate and the biggest haul wins.
Tips for winning Cast
- Cast asymmetrically. If you're confident the answer is at least 100 but have no idea about the ceiling, set the low end tight and the high end generous.
- When you genuinely have no idea, go wide and take the small guaranteed score. A zero is much worse than a token catch.
- Tighten up when you're behind. A wide net can't close a gap — late in the game the only lever you have is risk.
- Watch out for questions where the answer could be an order of magnitude bigger than it sounds. Those are where tight nets go to die.
